OVERVIEW
This 1 to 1 workshop is specially tailored to your individual requirements and is designed and structured for people with some previous painting experience, to gain a greater understanding of the ancient art of faux marbling, and the use of the tools and materials used in creating decorative paint techniques. During the course of the day, you will become proficient and comfortable using the paints and glazes used to master these much sort after and prized skills. You will be instructed in the use of acrylic scumble glazes and colourants, used extensively in conservation and restoration projects and by scenic artists around the world.
Workshops are run by Simon Nobs, with over 35 years experience working as a paint effects artist and specialist interior decorator and designer, and in restoration and conservation. The workshop will start with a quick overview and a brief history of the paint effect over tea and coffee.
Before starting on the practice boards Simon will give a detailed explanation of the correct use of primers and basecoats to be applied to a variety of surfaces and you will then prepare and basecoat your board. Whilst the boards are drying, Simon will give a demonstration of some of the techniques you will be introduced to. You will then be guided through the different stages used to create professional looking faux marble decorative paint effects, and then shown the correct use of varnishes and sealers used to protect and enhance your work.
